Intercept Handling

Purpose

The Intercept Handling form allows the customer to program how the system treats various intercept conditions as they arise in call processing. There are two categories of intercepts in the system:

There are two possibilities for specifying how an intercept is to be processed: Directory Number or Tone. Only one or the other may be specified for a given intercept reason.

Use this form when performing the following tasks:

NOTE: When a intercept condition is encountered, the system applies the intercept treatment configured for the call originator, not the call destination.

Description

Default Value

Intercept Number

System-generated, protected field. Up to 35 intercept handling treatments can be defined. The 35th should be reserved for use by ARS for routing calls over the Direct IP Route (see ARS Routes form). Its use for other applications is allowed but not recommended. Only the treatment number is reserved; the actual treatment options can be changed. Treatments 36 and up are reserved for future use.

IMPORTANT: Intercept Numbers above 32 should not be used in networks unless the entire network is upgraded to MCD 5.0 or higher.

Reorder Tone

Holding party locked out

The caller was on hold at a station that was subsequently locked out due to inactivity.

Reorder Tone

Interconnect restriction
